Target Audience: This program is designed for mental health professionals, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, counselors, child advocacy centers, department of social services, law enforcement investigators and other professionals working with children that have been abused or in high risk environments.
Fees: Registration Fees: $40 if registration and payment are postmarked on or before April 16, 2012; $50 thereafter. Advance registration is strongly recommended.

Credit: Participants must attend 100% of this program; no partial credit will be given.
CEU: 0.6 CEUs and 6.0 contact hours will be awarded to participants who attend 100% of this program. Southern Regional AHEC adheres to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines Provider #5362 and adheres to NAADAC Education Provider Guidelines Provider #843. This program will provide 6.0 contact hours (category A) continuing education credit to NC Psychologists.
Speakers:
Tawannah G. Allen, Ph.D. is Director of the Ed.D. Program and Associate Professor at Fayetteville State University(FSU).
Sharon Cooper, MD, FAAP is the CEO of Developmental and Forensic Pediatrics, PA a consulting firm which provides medical care, research, training and expert witness experience in child maltreatment cases, as well as medical care for children with disabilities.
Howard Loughlin, MD is a Board Certified Pediatrician with subspecialty certification in Child Abuse Pediatrics. Dr. Loughlin has been Medical Director of the Child Abuse Evaluation Clinic at the Southern Regional AHEC since 1994.
Erin Merryn is the author of Stolen Innocence and Living for Today, both memoirs about incest and rape.
Sgt. Greg Mills is a detective with the Cumberland County Sherriff’s Office, and is assigned to the Special Victims/Cyber Investigations.
Judith Rose, LCSW has been providing outpatient psychotherapeutic treatment to trauma victims and their families at Cape Fear Valley Behavioral Healthcare since 2009.
Khalill Shakeel, MS has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work and Masters Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Development.
Det. Scott Wells is currently a board member of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina. He teaches about recognizing and reporting child abuse with the Fayetteville Child Advocacy Center and is a member of the Cumberland County Community Coalition for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.
