Now is the time to Join Hands with the Child Advocacy Center
By Roberta Humphries, Executive Director
A child-friendly, compassionate and safe refuge – that is what the Child Advocacy Center means to hundreds of child victims of abuse in Cumberland County. Last newsletter we included our Annual Fiscal Year 2017 numbers which detailed how many people were served by the Child Advocacy Center and what services were provided. Those numbers told a story – a story of 696 cases of child abuse reported to the CAC, a story of 412 families that received Victim Family Advocacy services, of the thousands of individuals who received training on child abuse prevention, and of the professionals who received continuing education.
Thanks to your generosity, the Child Advocacy Center has been here for almost 25 years (2018 will be our Silver Anniversary) as a beacon of hope, help and healing for children and their families as they chart the turbulent and difficult waters of disclosure, investigation and prosecution of child abuse. During this past year, the Child Advocacy Center has continued to fulfill its mission of protecting children and stopping abuse by:
- Providing a secure and safe-haven for child victims of sexual and physical abuse.
- Conducting 428 forensic interviews to aid in the potential prosecution of child abuse perpetrators.
- Training more than 1500 adults on child abuse prevention.
- Providing 416 therapy sessions helping children recover from their victimization.
None of these accomplishments could have occurred without your financial support. It is our hope, and the hope of the children served by the Child Advocacy Center that prevention and intervention of child abuse remains one of your top charitable-giving priorities.
These are difficult economic times, but our children need us even more than before. Your donation will enable us to continue our fight to protect and serve the most helpless among us – our children!
If you wish to make a holiday gift in honor or memory of someone, the Center will send a notification on your behalf. Donations to the Child Advocacy Center can be made through our website, www.cacfaync.org or mailed directly to the Center. You can also purchase a leaf ($250) or star ($100) for our CAC Tribute Murals. You can contribute to the CAC Endowment Fund; donations to the Endowment Fund may be sent directly to the Cumberland Community Foundation, PO Box 2345, Fayetteville, NC 28302. Please indicate on your check that your contribution is for the Child Advocacy Center Endowment.
With your help, we can continue providing valuable services to the children of our community. Please send in your contribution today and join hands with others to show your support of the Child Advocacy Center and our community’s children.
Be a hero to the children now and in the future. For healing and hope, forever.
