Now is the time to Join Hands with the CAC

By Roberta Humphries, Executive Director

For much of 2012, national attention has been focused on the trial and conviction of Jerry Sandusky for sexually assaulting ten boys over a 15-year period. We have all been horrified that someone entrusted with the care of young people could have violated that trust so egregiously. The sad truth is that child molestation occurs daily. Darkness to Light estimates that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by the age of 18. It is our shared responsibility to protect our children.

Fortunately for our community and thanks to your generosity, the Child Advocacy Center has been here for almost 20 years as a beacon of hope, help and healing for children and their families as they chart the turbulent and difficult waters of disclosure, investigation and prosecution of child abuse.  During this past year, the Child Advocacy Center has continued to fulfill its mission of protecting children and stopping abuse by:

  • Providing a secure and safe haven for 487 child victims of sexual and physical abuse.
  • Conducting 347 forensic interviews to aid in the potential prosecution of child abuse perpetrators.
  • Training more than 1500 adults on child abuse prevention.
  • Working with our 19 partner agencies to save the community an estimated $500,000.

None of these accomplishments could have occurred without your financial support. It is our hope, and the hope of the children served by the Child Advocacy Center that prevention and intervention of child abuse remains one of your top charitable-giving priorities.

These are difficult economic times, but our children need us even more than before. Your donation will enable us to continue our fight to protect and serve the most helpless among us – our children!

If you wish to make a holiday gift in honor or memory of someone, the Center will send a notification on your behalf.  Donations to the Child Advocacy Center can be made by clicking on the button below or mailed directly to the Center.

With your help we can continue providing this valuable service to the children of our community.  Please send in your contribution today and join hands with others to show your support of the Child Advocacy Center and our community’s children.
